Our Vision
Bread for a Hungry World is a non-profit organization with the mission of sharing love by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of hurting people worldwide.
Founded in 1984, Bread began by feeding people starving in Botswana because of drought. Through the vision and energy of one man, Jon Jones, Bread for a Hungry World expanded to serve children in Honduras and fed over 100,000 people stranded in Burmese refugee camps. Jon's pioneering spirit and work over 18 years is the foundation for the Bread programs today.
From disaster relief in the United States to farming in Cuba and feeding centers in the Philippines, Mexico, Honduras, and Russia, Bread for a Hungry World tailors its programs based upon the country’s resources and the community’s needs.
Because of this, each program is unique and tailor-made to serve where the needs are greatest.
Today, Bread reaches families and communities in six countries by providing the means to a more self-sufficient life. With hope for a new future, the children in these communities have the potential to change the entire face of a nation.
